As For Kites

Fascinating –
high in the sky, flying free (with
a safety line that might break and
then again maybe not) – an exhilarating place to be.

A flyer of kites
must have faith to
let go and toss it into the wind
so it can rise to great heights.

To know when
to reel it in – or
to let the line go slack –
find just the right balance.

It echoes
relationships – the need
to learn how to interact with each other.

One person
the flyer
one on string’s end –
one grounding the other

Who is where
hanging from time to time
but always a duet of
flyer and kite
slightly miraculous to behold
(laws of aerodynamics not withstanding).
