Two Tapestries

The snow
must have begun
while we were sleeping, for
outside the sheerest of veils already
stretched from Heaven to earth.

Trees and fences softened, and
land blurred into water –
barely visible geese passed
overhead, merged with the mist
and disappeared – all, silently
and leaving no print on the ground.

Yet still they came – millions
of the tiniest white flakes
undistinguishable – one from another –
until at last they fashioned a blanket
deep enough to transform the landscape.

In contrast, the Bayeux Tapestry
unfolds in equally exquisite detail –
panel after panel – revealing a
cautionary tale reaching across the centuries.

May the tapestries of your lives be
woven with the strength and beauty of love.
