Scraps

1 June

Journey back home
it all began in California. before we left. Hope

Remember when the world was not big enough and
somedays were only whispered musings on a summer evening?
what made this place any different from a hundred other places?

Feelings of anticipation and uncertainty
we are finally going home. a little scary

Look into my eyes. home never was until we left
home was always for someday. houses taste the world

Deciding on forever now, you promise
have we grown old?

6 August

The house echoes its emptiness
bittersweet? Don’t
just smile and hug

Goodbye!

30 September

Rain pelts wildly. squirrels hurry through colored leaves
the faint chill of Fall

Heart – stop pounding
tree after tree not quite right
we burrow in to face the winter. clock ticking

8 December

Listen! Sounds of deer and owl
walking down to the water at dusk, the search is over.
