Hark!

No sooner
had the calendar
turned its page to
December
then God spread His blanket
across the eastern half of the continent.

Pre-empting
deck the halls and
fa-la-la, deer stayed in
their thickets and geese fell silent.

Caught
by surprise
littlejennywren darted
from her berth ‘neath the boat
cover and chattered incessantly at our back door.

Annie and Coco
mesmerized by
the falling snow, ignored her.
with water and food temporarily
buried, Jenny soon returned to her at-sea cabin.

We too should pause to
remember the blessings of
thanksgiving behind us – Listen
to children delighting in simple pleasures and
reflect upon the truths of the Holy Days ahead.

May love and peace fill every heart.
